A case of disseminated cryptococcosis and literature review

Abstract:

Objective To report a case of disseminated cryptococcosis and review of the related literature. Methods Retrospective analysis of a case of disseminated cryptococcosis,case retrieval of Foreign Medical Journal CHKD journal full-text database integration system and nearly 20 years as reported at home and abroad,combined with literature review summarized clinical characteristics of disseminated cryptococcosis. Results A 16-year-old female presented with a over 10-day history of a cough and fever.She was originally diagnosed with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura and had been treated with oral corticosteroids for a long time.Disseminated cryptococcosis was diagnosed by lumbar puncture and blood culture.A total of 149 cases of disseminated cryptococcosis were collected from the database,including male 95 cases and female 53cases,aged from 2 to 77 years old,with a total of 47 children,with a mortality of 41 cases.And there were 59 patients with normal immune function. Conclusion The mortality rate of disseminated cryptococcosis is high,so we should strive for early diagnosis and treatment,improve the cure rate and reduce the disability rate.
