Clinical analysis of 20 cases of dermatophytes caused by Microsporum canis and literature review

Abstract:

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of Microsporum canis infections according to analysis of 20 cases and literature review of the last ten years.Methods Microsporum canis infections were diagnosed by mycological examinations.The general information of patients,the characteristics of skin lesions,course of disease,treatment and prognosis were analyzed and the literature review of the last ten years was also performed.Results There were 302 patients in outpatient diagnosis and literature review who aged 17 days to 83 years,Male to female ratio was about 1:2,80% of patients had a history of exposure to pets.Clinical manifestations of children mostly were tinea capitis,while the adults were mostly tinea corporis.Diagnosis was based mainly on mycological microscopy and culture.The prognosis was good after antifungal therapy.Conclusion Tinea coursed by Microsporosis canis is a common dermatophytosis,which has high incidence and strong contagion.Once diagnosed,we should standardize treat and give patient education timely in order to prevent spread and reduce morbidity.
